The Infernal Device is a large mechanical animated sculpture we would like to build for this year's ArtPrize event, an event that brings hundreds of thousands of people to downtown Grand Rapids for 19 straight days.
The bar, is a very high one, with sculptures the size of large houses, paintings covering entire buildings, drawings spanning the largest gallery walls - and we have a fantastic and over-the-top concept we feel is bound to win.... we only need the parts and space to build it.
Our team consists of steampunk/retrofuturist painter and engraver Myke Amend, enginartist Steve Brook and steam modeler Todd Cahill - as well as team members and helpers from last year's SteamPig Experiment.
Though we are using 90% upcycled/recycled/re-purposed materials, many of these re-claimed parts will still need to be purchased from scrap yards, and transported. We will also needing to secure an industrial space large enough for the building and housing of this work, and will need to cover related transportation fees for this huge moving sculpture.
We have the training, experience, know-how, desire, and the dream - but we need other dreamers such as you to bring this work from the drawing board to the world.
Please, spread the word, or go to our kickstarter page to donate $1, or more if you please. There is no donation that doesn't count, and seriously - it would be that much more awesome if we did this all on small donations, and good-willed people spreading the word.

please give it a look, and share.
